Freedom Dag 5 – Jag lever igen!

Båt i hamn, fast land under mina fötter, jag kan stå igen!
Vilket mottagande! Redan kl 5 på morgonen står det människor och väntar på oss i Cádiz hamn. En stor välkomstkommitté följer oss till Stadshuset där vi tas högtidligt emot av borgmästaren som håller tal och överlämnar en gåva i form av en staty “Hoppets ljus”. Återigen slås jag av det politiska engagemanget, det tydliga ställningstagandet som visat sig i land efter land. Och återigen står jag helt oförstående inför vår regerings fullständiga tystnad och handlingsförlamning. Att inte ens ha anständighet nog att kalla hem vår ambassadör efter Israels kallblodiga mördande av 129 oskyldiga människor…hur är det ens möjligt? Israeliska styrkor siktade och sköt på människor som genomförde en fredlig demonstration. Det är inget annat än medvetet mordiskt handlande. Att sikta och skjuta på medicinsk personal, journalister och fotografer och avsiktligt skada och lemlästa över 13 000 oskyldiga människor, däribland både kvinnor och barn, är en direkt förbrytelse mot Genèvekonventionen. Det visar endast på att det inte handlar om soldater som följer militärens order utan hjärntvättade mördarmaskiner. För till och med soldater har en viss kod och är bundna till att följa militärens lagar. Israels handlande gentemot Palestinas folk bryter kontinuerligt mot dessa lagar.
Israels ockupation av Palestina har pågått officiellt sedan 1967, men i verkligheten sedan 1948. En ockupationsmakt har skyldighet att under ockupationen, (dvs under den tid landet fortfarande har militär närvaro i det ockuperade området) värna om civilbefolkningens säkerhet samt förse dem med förnödenheter som mat och medicin. De ska även se till att återställa ordningen i landet till den grad att nödvändiga samhällsfunktioner så som skola, sjukhus och annan infrastruktur fungerar. Därefter lämnar vanligtvis militären det ockuperade området, då det är en väldigt kostsam historia för ett land att ockupera ett annat land under en längre tid. Att under ockupationen utnyttja det ockuperade områdets tillgångar till sitt eget lands fördel strider mot Genèvekonventionen. Detta gör Israel. Kontinuerligt. Under snart 70 år har Israel sugit ut värdefulla tillgångar från Västbanken, och tillsammans med Egypten skapat en blockad runt Gaza. Israel erkänner inte ockupationen av Gaza då de menar på att de inte har israeliskt militär på plats i Gaza, och därmed inte behöver ta ansvar för det palestinska folket som lever i ett Gaza utan tillgång till rent vatten, tillräcklig föda, hälsovård, utbildning och arbete. Men dels tillhör Gaza Palestina, ett land som Israel officiellt ockuperar och dels har Israel militär närvaro runtom och över Gaza, vilket gör hela blockaden av Gaza illegal. Varför blundar Sverige inför detta?
Day 5 -Back to life!

Boat in the harbour, land under my feet, I can stand up and walk again!
What a reception! Already at 5 am there are people waiting for us in Cádiz harbor. A large welcome committee follows us to the City Hall where we are warmly welcomed by the mayor who gives a supporting speech and hands over a gift in the form of a statue “The Light of Hope”.
Again, I am struck by the political commitment, the clear statement that has been shown by country after country. And again, I am completely unable to understand the complete silence and paralysis of our government. They are not even decent enough to call home our ambassador after Israel’s cold-blooded assassination of 129 innocent people … how is it possible? Israeli forces aimed and shot at people who conducted a peaceful demonstration. It is nothing but a deliberately murderous action. Aiming and shooting at medical staff, journalists and photographers and causing deliberate harm and mutilation to over 13,000 innocent people, including both women and children, is a direct violation of the Geneva Convention. It shows that this is not about soldiers following military orders but brainwashed killing machines. Even soldiers have a certain code and are bound to follow military laws. Israel’s actions against Palestinian people continually violate these laws.
Israel’s occupation of Palestine has been official since 1967, but in reality since 1948. An occupying power has a duty to protect the civilian population during the occupation, ie during the time the country still has military presence in the occupied area, and provide them with necessities such as food and medicine. They should also ensure that the system in the country is restored to the extent that necessary social functions such as schools, hospitals and other infrastructures work. After that, the military usually leaves the occupied area, as it is a very expensive story for one country to occupy another for a long time. Exploiting an occupied areas assets for ones own benefit is contrary to the Geneva Convention. Israel does this. Continuously. For almost 70 years, Israel has extracted valuable assets from the West Bank and, together with Egypt, created a blockade around Gaza. Israel does not recognize the occupation of Gaza, stating that they do not have Israeli military forces in Gaza, and thus do not need to take responsibility for the Palestinian people living in a Gaza without access to clean water, adequate food, health care, education and work . But, in part, Gaza belongs to Palestine, a country that Israel is officially occupying, and Israel has military presence around and above Gaza (military arial controle), which makes the entire blockade of Gaza illegal.
How can Sweden not take real actions against this?
